Folks,

As most of you know, we have recently initiated a renewed focus on advancing the state of our kit program. On March 17th, we announced our Kit Support HelpDesk, which provided you with a couple of new communication methods for gaining support during your build. While we are still working through a backlog of your support needs, we are quickly gaining ground.

In direct support of that effort, for the past eight weeks we have been cataloging your build manual feedback in real-time and have actively solicited feedback from some of our “serial builders”. Today we are releasing the newest versions of our EX3 kit manuals. You will notice that rather than revising the previous manual numbers, new manual numbers have been assigned. This reflects the fact that these manuals have been placed under the oversight and management of our Engineering and Product Development team and will utilize the same standardized service document protocols as our certified products. All of the EX3 manuals have been updated, some more than others. We've made close to 200 edits, including more than 70 changes drawn from Dave Embry’s well-regarded build thread.

Here are some examples of those edits:

General Revisions:

  • Figures and Photos
    • Corrected multiple references to figures and photos that were incorrect/out of order.
    • Updated multiple figures/photos that were for EX2 instead of EX3.

  • Hardware/Materials
    • Added missing callouts where clearly needed.
    • Corrected/updated obsolete callouts.
    • Clarified some of the optional or equivalent part numbers.

  • Body of Text
    • Added clarity to areas that were noted as unclear or ambiguous.

Specific Examples:
  • Wing Manual: Bolt direction corrected in page 71 photos. (Thank you, Neal Rosoff!)
  • Fuselage: Updated photos and figures for EX3 Heater Air Box (example: Page 225)
  • Firewall Forward: Corrected orientation of Photo on page 36. Added torque values (pages 40, 41)

One more thing. The DropBox access links changed about two months ago. Please email kitsupport@cubcrafters.com if you need the new links.

There are more good things in store as we move the state of the kit program forward together. Stay tuned!
