    Default Propeller clocking to #1 TDC

    A high time supercub pilot mentioned that the propeller should be clocked to #1 cylinder TDC to assist in hand propping and balance to the engine firing. The prop should be about 10 o'clock (and 4) when #1 is coming up to the compression cycle.

    Hand propping I don't think we have to worry about, but the balance comment was interesting.

    With the light weight catto prop is there a clocking preference?

    This is on a EX-2.

    I like the timing your friend mentioned. It just looks right on a Cub. And if hand propping is ever necessary this is where you want it.

    I don’t see how positioning it like this could allow for better balance though. All props should be dynamically balanced in my opinion.
