    Default First Flight! N986KD EX-2

    Fantastic day!

First flights today of N986KD EX-2.
Special thanks to Mark Keneston for his help in getting me back in tailwheel shape, Mitch for being, well...Mitch (sorry for bugging you so much) (great help on the panel placards etc.etc.), Dave Embry and Chuck and Ryan's great forum posts, JeepGord for taking me float flying.

I put in Ly-Con IO340 10:1 compression fuel injection. Vetterman exhaust (makes great cabin heat! - but check back next winter) IFR set up with Garmin G3X and GTN625.

First short flight early this am (No squawks!) Decowled, checked everything and then back out for an hour of hard running to get the rings set.

I am following the excellent EAA flight test manual:

Thanks, was wondering if you went C/S. I have an EX, love it but would like to have injection. Do you know if carburettor Titan 340 can be converted? HP with 10.1 comp? BTW my name is Paul live in Australia.

Paul, I showed 206HP on the dynamometer run sheet for my motor from LY-Con.

The plane literally jumps in to the air within two seconds of throttle. As I have only flown a CC with someone in the back, perhaps this is the norm. But, WOW!

I did not attempt go light on my build (see my posts on baggage area extras etc.) and my empty weight is 1040lbs. But I rationalized this as I am a 160lb pilot so that makes up for some of it??

My first ever takeoff is here. I slowly advanced the throttle so there is some roll before liftoff. But will be fun when I am more comfortable, stand on the brakes and advance the throttle quickly.

    David
