    Default Voltage readings

Hello, I was wondering what voltages you all are seeing with engine running/in flight? Alternator was replaced last annual and new battery has been installed about a month ago. I’m seeing 12.6 to 13.1 volts, seems a little low to me but curious what other people are seeing? Thanks

My FX-3, which I think has the same alternator, runs about 14.2 V. One poster was concerned that his FX-3 voltage was only 13.8 V.

There seems to be some variation in the voltage of these Denso alternators but 12.6 V may indicate the alternator is not charging the battery.

What are the engine monitor battery voltage and current indications in cruise flight? Are they stable?

    EX-2: 13.1V master on, 14.2V (continuous) flying

Thanks for the feedback. My flightdek d180 reads about 13 volts, that’s both on the ground/idle and in flight. Since the new alternator and battery I’ve never seen anything other than around what it’s showing now. Faulty alternator you think? Something else you suggest looking into?

Do you have any direct indication of battery charge and discharge current? If so, what is battery current before engine start, immediately after engine start, and in cruise?

What is the indicated voltage with master on before engine start and immediately after engine start?

Master on is 12 volts exact, 12.8-13 after startup, and it’s at that 12.8-13 continuous after in flight. No signs of discharge

So no ammeter in your aircraft?

sorry if I misunderstood the question, are you talking about the amp reading?

Yes. Now that we know where the ammeter is - what does it read

    1. Master on before engine start
    2. Immediately after engine start
    3. During cruise

In cruise does the Amps value fluctuate at all?

-2 amps with master on, +10 at startup then dropped down to +3 continuous flight. Stays consistent in flight not fluctuation
