    Default STOL/Breakfast Sunday 5/21 Basin Harbor (B06)

    Hi Folks;

    Basin Harbor and The Red Mill are open for biz for the season 5/12. Just in time for Mother's Day for those looking for something to do then.

    http://www.basinharbor.com/dining/th...ll-restaurant/

    I would like to invite all of you and anyone you know with an interest, to Basin Harbor (B06) on Sunday 5/21 for a little fun on the grass. We will have a STOL landing competition and 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes for the top finishers. Contest will be held from 9-11am.

    Rules for landing:

    If you are arriving with a passenger, you will be allowed to land and let passenger out and go make your pass. Also, we will be on CTAF 122.8 so report in your tail# or name.

    1. Main gear tires must land on or beyond the reference line.
    2. Main gear tires touchdown prior to reference line is disqualifying.
    3. Tailwheel tire touchdown prior to reference line is NOT disqualifying.
    4. Aircraft must come to a full stop, straight ahead, and remain until judges have had a chance to measure and clear you from the runway.
    5. Landing distance will be measured from the reference line to the main gear tires once stopped.

    Please email back if you like or just show up. We will have the XCub there on display also. Hope you will join us.

    Wow! A fantastic weekend of flying started on Friday picking up a Carbon Cub but then the weather that was forecasted as sketchy just the 3days before got better. Friday’s winds left the area and the weekend shaped up nicely.

    Saturday morning my son Brody and I piled into the XCub to go over to Hampton, NH for their annual swap meet/fly in breakfast. Met a few people we knew but also spoke to a few who had never seen a CubCrafters airplane let alone an XCub. We drew some attention to ourselves with 500XC. So we had some breakfast, spoke with some folks and then headed up to Tom Ford’s place Cooper Field in NH between Laconia and Concord. We visited there and had a nice tour of his shop (Grass Patch Aero)and operation. He is a Cub guy for sure specializing in Cub anything and other TW stuff too but he loves Cubs. And his Mom made a killer lunch too. Thank you again. Shortly after we flew home and Brody led the way.

    Sunday we (CubCrafters GreatLakes/Northeast) hosted our first event of the season, a STOL event at the Basin Harbor Club on Lake Champlain in Vergennes, VT. I left Saratoga, NY in the Xcub 500XC at 7:30am and flew along Lake George and into the champlain valley north with a little music on and the air more still than I can remember for some time. It was beautiful! I landed at Basin Harbor a field manicured with a golf course precision by about 8:15. I did some quick set up and in fact one flyer even beat me there. Shortly after I arrived they were wheeling in left and right. In all there were 28 airplanes and from as far away as NH and CT. We had all kinds of planes and we had our very own short landing contest and a few had breakfast and a few stayed a littlelonger for lunch. Basin Harbor is a great destination spot if you are ever up in this area. Here are some pics I can share and I am sure some folks will add their own here also. Thanks again to all those who visited and participated and thanks to my friend VT Glen for help in the spotting. Hope you all will join us again next time. MK

    There ya go. I was just messing with 40MM😀

    (I don't have flaps, seem to land as short as everybody else, sometimes shorter. It's not what you got, it's how you use it
