Was just quoted $3862.00 for the Carbon Cub. $180,000 hull, I have ~2800hr tt, 1000+tailwheel, Comercial, instrument.

Double what I pay for the RV10 and have it covered for $210,000hull. Sounds kinda high to me.

Are they that much more prone to claims?

Also have the quote here for the RV-8 at $1400 or so but with less hull.

I pay 15-20% more on carbon cub vs my rv10. Same values. I've got lots of time including over 1000 tw. Am checking new rates now for renewal. Am curious who is agent and underwriter on your quote if you don't mind saying. My current rate is with AIG

I just got my flying policy through Falcon, which is the EAA company. $2400/year on $175,000 with $0 deductible. I got quote from Terry also much higher. I had a builders risk during construction. $1100/year and they refunded me $450 when I just converted it over to flying.

PS. All the others were requiring duel time in make/model. Falcon just said get 3 hours and let me do it in a Super Cub 150 hp.

I've never been much of a fan of insurance of any type. For several years I had nothing on my EX. Then I decided that maybe Liability-only made sense. This year I'm making another trip to Alaska in the EX and checked on complete coverage - just in case. I was quoted $1863 and decided to go with it. It has no exclusions for off-airport ops too. Hull value at $175,000.

The insurer is Old Republic Aerospace and this is the broker:
