    Default Fishing Rod Holder

I'm working on the extended baggage for my EX-2 and would like to incorporate a fishing rod holder.

I've seen what Dan L did with a kydex tube - interesting. I was thinking about a door built in to the rear vertical panel of the extended baggage and possible a fabric sling or tube extending toward the tail.

I've hunted around on this forum and SuperCub.org without much luck.

I plan on lining the aluminum panels of the extended baggage with this in heather gray:

Not too heavy, helps to keep the noise down, looks nice. Also will add more baggage tie downs a la Chuck and Ryan:

    Toughts?

    Thank you,

    David

I had the same thoughts about extending the extended baggage. I too looked at what Dan L did, and even asked him a few questions. I fabricated an extension that I thought would come in handy and be a great rod holder. Once I mocked it up I didn't like it as much I I thought I would. Then I realized that I was just adding more weight near the aft CG and how often would it be used, not to mention my 4 section Orvis 9' rod fits in the stock extended baggage area without issue. But hey, that's the best part of building your own, you can personalize it to work for you! Let us know what you end up doing, love to see the custom touches.

    Hi David,

I added an aluminum box in mine, It is held down in the back by the nut on the pulley. I like it alot. 196035_10150999719730708_989525550_n.jpg600024_10150999510505708_1869221539_n.jpg

I like the aluminum box. It looks very sturdy and well attached.

After using my tube for a few fishing seasons now I've found that it adds a lot of utility to the plane at a minimal weight penalty. I've used it for other long items too like Packraft paddles and tent poles. My fly rod is a four piece too but my spin cast gear is two piece and fits in the tube just right.

Had I been building an LSA weight limited Cub I would not have added it.
