29's and 83" prop in case you decide to put it on floats and go play with Chuck!

Jim, I took a pic of your baby alongside mine last week at the factory. Two great looking birds! Red is the new Yellow!!

The FX3 with the constant speed prop is 30 MPH (or more) faster than everything except the X-Cub. Look at the Blog entries about Brad's trip in the FX3.

This particular BA Red is so fire RED that it tends to heat-up the air around the aircraft and may slightly reduce performance. Yellow tends not to do that, at least that is what Chip from SWT told me. We have not yet produced performance charts that compare the cruise speed effects of color. We will just have to trust Chip for now.

Hot Tamales also tend to reduce range performance, as the pilot tends to require more enroute stops.

I have to admit, that BA red has got me questioning my tentative yellow selection. I am considering flying out to see it just to peek. I would have never considered anything but yellow, but even orange looks hot. Thanks for the help on the 26” decision, very informative and probably a good match for my mission. I think I will get to see Chip’s yellow bird before going hard on selections. Can hardly wait, have an 800 mile trip to Memphis next week for Christmas, it could be so much quicker.

    Lou,

Looking forward to seeing you in January at Sebring (if not before). Keep in mind that, although BA red looks good, it's not everyone's cup of tea, and if you ever plan to resell the airplane, yellow will go away long before red (in my opinion). After talking with Brad about props and tires, his opinion is that 26" tires and 80" prop are a better combination at lower altitudes (below 6,000 ft.), while the larger tires / 83" prop are better at higher elevations (think Rockies). Also, the airplane will be much easier to get into and out of on 26's than it will on 29's. But in the end, you're the builder, you can make it whatever shade of yellow you want.
