Default Ideas for reducing panel glare at night

I have the performance VFR panel with the led guages for fuel flow, rpm, and oil pressure. Has anyone come up with an idea for reducing night glare such as tint covers, rheostat (dimmer) controls? I havn't looked into the wiring for theses guages but my guess is that the LED's can not be dimmed.

I found the manual for the E.I. guages on Aircraft Spruce. There is a separate lead for backlighting. I should be able to re-wire that lead through a rheostat control.

This is what I found out so far. There are 2 separate leads for lighting. One for the LED's and one for the digital display backlight. The LED lead can be routed through a rheostat - problem solved. I just need to find a 12-volt rheostat that I can mount in the panel.

I have the WVFR panel and had the same issue with the EI CGR-30P and with the light rings I installed on the steam gauges. I wired them up to the MaxDimMini two channel dimmer, one channel for the light rings and one for the glass. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalo...xdimmicro2.php

That's exactly where I'm mounting mine. I'm using Part #: 11-06674 from AC Spruce. LED's on each guage only draws 1/10 amps so this switch has enough ampacity to handle all 3 guages.

Mission accomplished. Note the dimmer knob on the left side of the panel.

That should do the trick nicely!
