    Default My EX2

Here is an intro to my project. Just finished the silvers on the wing. When you spay that stuff on it is like talking to St. Peter at the pearly gates...it brings out all of your sins from days gone by. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give myself a 6.75. It looks ok but don't get to close.

Don't be too hard on your self! When you get the leading edge painted and move it out in the sun it will be 10 out of 10!

    Looks fine in the photo.

All that really matters is the tapes are down. Sand in between coats. It'll be fine. Looking good!!

Ya tapes went down fine and look good. It is the aileron cove that is kicking my but. Glued down the left wing yesterday and still was fighting to get it to lay down smooth. It is like bull riding... It looks a lot easier on TV. With the concave shape one can't simply iron things out.

The aileron valley can be a challenge. Here are links to a couple of posts addressing that issue. Hope this doesn't come too late.

I wonder if that tape is the type used to cover the ends of the flaps and ailerons? It wasn't a part of my early kit but I think it was added at some point.

After seeing it on a newer finished kit it looked like a good idea to me. It'll keep bugs and dirt from getting through those lightening holes. I found some of the tape and put it on my control surfaces.

    Dan,

The tape on over the lightening holes is just Home Depot Aviation Grade HVAC aluminum foil tape, applied prior to painting.

Time to switch modes from low and slow to low and fast. Project is going on the back burner for a bit.

That is looking really nice. Thanks for the tip for that strip on the River. We went up there and had a good time camping. The cabin was great to get out of the wind that came up in the afternoon. I should be coming to the Missouri Breaks flyin that Ralph helps put on. Do you think you will have her flying by then?
