Interesting on the need for a block on the front attachment point.

What tire size are you guys running that need the additional block?

Is this block added to reduce/eliminate shimmy due to too little caster?

I’m only running 26 airstreaks, it’s to reduce the positive caster angle.

    Pete,

Yes, I see you are reducing the positive castor angle with adding the forward block (and slightly increasing the amount of trail).
What problem are you solving with this? I will be setting my T3 up soon and am very interested in this. I will be on 8.50 x 6 tires, standard fuel tanks, 160# pilot.

A brief discussion of the geometry here for those interested:

Mainly ground handling, there is so much positive caster that the TW wants to flip around 180 and its pretty much a balancing act to keep it centered. Once it’s loaded and you have some elevator pressure and forward speed it’s not as bad. You only need a few degrees of positive caster to prevent shimmy, I didn’t measure it but if I had to venture a guess it was double digits originally. I have mine set up as light as I can get it without loosening the spring to the point of it rattling and have no issues with shimmy when loaded.

Thanks for the heads up. Contacted Airframes AK and they are sending me the low angle bracket (p/n ABI-51349)

Reviving and old thread with some questions.

1st: everyone still like their T3?

2nd: Airframes website lists the T3 at 5.2 lbs. Does anyone know the weight of the 2 leaf springs on the CC setup that the T3 would replace? I called Airframes and they didn't have an answer.

3rd: I noticed that the chains go slack on compression when watching their video. I assume once the tail is not compressed that the chains are taunt again and can enable ground steering?

Looks like a great product. Thanks

Thank you, yes I'm aware of the Acme Stinger. I happen to run the Black ops on the mains.

    One better than the other?

I cant say if one is better than the other, as Ive never had any reason to move away from Acme, both for the Gen 3 Black Ops and the Stinger. Awesome engineering, durabilty, light weight and form factor..... all of my Carbon Cub customers are using them.
