    Default cc340 constant speed?

Is anyone using a constant speed mt or other prop on the CC340?

    Thanks

The CC340 does have a hollow crank and could therefore be fitted with a governor for constant speed prop use. Of course that would add a BUNCH of weight though. ;-)

Is the standard fixed pitch prop composite that most are using? What does it weigh? I believe that an MT and gov. don't weigh much more than a "borer" but obviously the composite fixed is lighter than the borer. Would be interested in some real world numbers of what the fixed composite weighs.

    Thanks

Our standard prop for the production planes is made by Catto. It is a wood core composite prop. We need to compile some weight data but suffice it to say it would be probably less than half the weight of the McCauley Borer prop or an MT with the governer and related controls included.

    Thanks for the info Randy,
What pitch are most using? I saw an "options" list somewhere that had a climb, combo, and cruise pitch options. Any idea what pitch Ben from california cubs is running and what kind of cruise he can expect? Obviously every ounce is obsessed over on these airplanes so the fixed makes sense.......

Just found the options list and it looks like 52"-56" options for the prop.

Ben, and all of our dealers, are flying the 54" because it give very snappy takeoff and climb, yet still gives decent cruise even with 26" tires. Our "standard" prop is the 55" which will yield the best cross country speeds. The plane still takes off and climbs very well, not a huge difference, but will be cruising 4-5 mph faster at the same rpm.
