I did! Crazy thing is I used my buddies "expensive" one on my last project and there wasn't much difference.
In regards to the trix nuts I would buy a few rivnuts to have on hand. The aluminum on the boot cowl is so soft that if you have a trix nut spin out, the hole is now to big to put another one in and have it seat properly. If that happens you can use a rivnut. It has a lip so it will fit in a slightly larger hole and it does the exact same thing.
I do love the color as well. However, at $1200 a gallon it's too expensive to learn on!
Flaps and ailerons installed today. Ailerons went on piece of cake. First flap was a pain. We didn't realize the bearing in the flap cone wasn't seated all the way. Once we figured that out the other side was easy.
One thing I wish I would have done is ream the holes in the bottom of the flap handle before the wings went on. There was so much power coat in the hole and no room to ream it out. The bolt was crazy tight and has to be inserted from the inside out to avoid hitting the frame. There is so little room to work and the tight bolt made it that much more difficult while setting the rod length.
I should have have taken the whole flap handle off and just reamed them.
Thanks for all these great tips! I reamed my fuse strut attach holes before the gear went on and I will be sure to do this tonight. It is looking good!
Nice tip on the flap handle. Still running about 30 days behind you. Keep the tips coming!
Your Cub is really looking good..
