    Default Attaching Boot Cowl

The CC design calls for securing the boot cowl with sheet metal screws. I don't like em. You start out with #4 and three years and a couple of annuals later some of them require #6. A few years later and you need some #8. Etc.

The very best thing to do to eliminate this problem would be to use nut plates. But oh what a tedious and time consuming job!

So I came up with a halfway solution. Not as good as nut plates but way better than depending on sheet metal screws to fetch up tight in the thin steel of the fabric spacers. I used #4 flat tinnermans secured to the inside of the frame with adhesive. Leftover Methacrylate would be good. I used Aqua Seal leftover from fixing some hip boots. A strong bond isn't really necessary as you just need the tinnermans to stay put long enough and well enough to get a screw started.

Outfoxed by the system - wrong picture. This is the one I intended.

I like that idea. The nice thing is that if you didn't do it right away you can gain access to the spacer down the road by taking the interior panel off.
