Default Flying East from Yakima and camping

Has anyone flown their new Cub home from Yakima and camped along the way? I'm picking one up in Aug and flying it to WV and would like to camp with the plane on grass strips and any recommendations would be welcome.

You are welcome to land on my 2400 ft. Private strip and camp here. The strip is located in south east south dakota. A courteosy car is available and there is a restaurant two blocks away.

I have spent the night in Winifred Montana a couple of times. Grass strip, fuel, huge hanger that you might be able to park in. Out in the middle of the country. Town of Winifred is pretty close to go get a burger if you wanted to.

    Jim S,

Does your field have an identifier? On the sectional?

My grass strip does not have an identifier. It is about 22 miles east of 9D1 on the south west corner of Bonesteel SD. You will find Bonesteel on the west side of the Missouri river near where the river runs into Nebraska. Google earth shows the strip pretty well. It is 2400' x 150'

i've camped in about a dozen spots in idaho, as well as many in utah. Idaho would be my suggestion. Upper loon is a great camping spot, one of my favorites for good views. Johnson creek is the popular one, but lots of people. I was there last october and it was dead, but august will be a busy month for that area. Big creek is another one of my favorites for peacefulness. There is a good campsite and a nice babbling stream that runs next to the campsite.
