Default Now it looks like a Plane!!!

There's been many milestones, over the course of my CCEX build but today has to be one of the biggest and most gratifying. With the help of a few very good friends, we got both wings installed....and what was once a 20' wooden crate full of parts is looking very much like a plane now.

Beautiful Paul, I'm hoping to have mine to that point before the end of the year.

    Paul,

At the wing roots, are the the fuel tanks are exposed in the top picture? Do you cover them separately in the kit?

I am about to replace mine since one is leaking, will use the cover from SI0020 (http://www.cubcrafters.com/pdfs/serv...ons/si0020.pdf) so I don't need to re-cover.

Looks good Paul. That hangar looks familiar.

The extended range fuel tanks come with the tank cover installed.

    Standard tanks have no cover.

Current production standard tank installations are prepped for tank covers with the fuel tank bay extension skin and nut plates installed. Older aircraft prior to approximately mid 200 s/ns need a bit more work per the SI to install the lid as they weren't prepped.

To confirm if a wing is set up for a tank lid under the fabric or not look on top of the wing above the rear spar, you should be able to see a pinked edge fabric tape running from the first rib to the second rib. If there is no tape on the fabric there then it was built prior to the design change.
