    Default Colors - Paint

I am trying to choose a color for my order. I really like black but am wondering how much harder it is to take care of versus white or yellow......

I have had black cars before and they are really difficult to keep looking good.

Can anyone with a black one shed some light on the subject?

Also, what do you think of the new checkerboard tails?

Mine is black, and it is not difficult at all to keep it clean and presentable. Just plain water and some very soft microfiber towels, it wipes off in no time. I use pledge or plexus on the cowl and leading edges so the bugs don't stick too bad.

Black on a Carbon Cub is bad-ass. But there's an unwritten rule -- you can't put tires smaller than 29s on a black Carbon Cub.
A black and white Carbon Cub with black and white checkerboard would be triple bad-ass, IMHO.

That's John's rule. Black looks good with any tires.

I chose the black and yes it does show the dust/pollen more than my mates yellow but it does (imho) look much better. Bird s**t is the big problem here in the spring with the little sobs nesting in the hangar. I use a bucket of soapy car wash with a microfibre brush/cloth then hose it off and wipe dry.

The one downside to black is that the surface gets very hot in strong sun if it's left out.

Tyre size is definitely not a factor unless you have the white walled ones.

On the list of Flying Magazines top 20 coolest airplanes ever was the Carbon Cub at #12. Just behind the F-22 Raptor. It was the coolest general aviation airplane on the list.

A picture of a Carbon Cub accompanied the article. What color? You guessed it. Black. What "tyre" size? You guessed it again. 29s! Does it make the top 20 on, say, 8s? Clearly no. But that's not a problem, because the rule is 29s. Except for the Kiwis, who, as everyone knows, operate under an entirely different set of rules.

    Black, on 29s. Very cool.

I was always told that it's not the size but what you do with it that's important

So based on this logic, Black, on 31's, must be extremely cool. That also means birds will stay clear of it, rather than take the risk of being not cool...

Exactly. Even 29s would probably solve KiwiBob's bird problem.
