That said I ( and I assume others ou there) am at an age where my treble hearing loss is accelerating. The fact tat you can adjust the treble and base on the PFX head sets is what really attracted me to try them. At this time there are some bugs to work out as they seems to keep trying to do a reset so the osund level of dampening keeps changing which is hugely annoying especially in full power loud environment. When they DO settle down they are definately quieter than the Zulu 2 but not hugely so. Lightspeed has been very suppotive and sent me the software upgrades and I loaded that last night but I have not been back in a field test as yet and will report in. If the upgraded software does not fix them than I plan to send them back and stick with My Zulu 2s. Hope that helps. best Gary
That helps Gary! I'll stick with the Zulu 2's for now.

I traded my Zulu 2 for the PFX at Oshkosh and was very disappointed until I received a call from the factory saying they needed to do a software update. I sent them to the factory and they were returned a week later. They work great now......better than the Zulu 2 set I had. Apparently there were some bugs in the software and they have been fixed.

I was confused about those lettered headsets. Mine is AKG not PFX, and I much prefer it to the Bose. I have both in my bird and my wife makes me where the Bose when she is with me; and solo I opt for AKG.

Here is my follow up after re testing the PFX post updated software: Unfortunately it still seems these headsets are not ready. I have returned my PFX and will get another set of Zulu 2s for now. The updated software helped but they still want to reset at three differing levels of quiet with no real prediction on when or why and have a background noise that is not present in the Zulu 2s. I have worked with the Lightspeed tech Dan who was VERY helpful. Last weekend I spent an hour switching back and forth between the PFX and Zulu 2s and in my opinion the Zulu 2 s still win for now. The ability to custom set the PFX treble is very apealing ( for us hard of hearing folks) and I suspect they will get it right soon. That said I also think its our CC super high noise environment that is a real challenge for any noise cancelation sets. The Zulu 2 ability to set the mike gain for me made them work. The PFX seems to work well , similar to the Bose in other planes I fly which are quieter to begin with. As an aside NONE of the active noise cancelation sets work in an open cockpit Stearman. The wind buffeting just creates havoc on the system. The standard David Clarks still are the best. Hope this report is helpful. Regards Gary

I traded my Zulu 2's in for the PFX and wonder why I did it. They seem to do an adequate (comparable) job to the Zulu's, but on take-off they range from working to no sound dampening at all. Very distracting. Light speed sent a new head cushion (thicker foam) and did some work on them when I returned them. But the problem persists. At this point, I don't know which option is best.

I've also noticed that on take off, once I throttle back things settle down. I like the headsets especially the use of Siri thru the headset, works better then any headset I've had. I called them about it and they gave me a procedure to try to erase any stored bad data (which I would have assumed they did for you when you returned them). I'll give it a try and report back when it stops raining here in Seattle which should be sometime in the next year or so
