Default Carbon Cub Vs Sport Cub S2

    Hi,

I am wanting to purchase a used amphib as a recreational plane to be used mainly in lakes in the British Columbia area. My choices are:

    Carbon Cub
    Sport Cub S2
    Sportsman
    C182/5

My missions will be 2-300 nm, with just myself (210 lbs) and my wife (115 lbs) and small overnight bags.
I have a Cirrus SR22 which is still my go to plane for serious travel.... The amphib is just a toy.

Any thoughts and opinions will be greatly appreciated.

    Thx
    Brad

Since you are so close to the factory in Yakima, I would suggest you schedule a tour. All will become obvious at that point. I have a Sport Cub XP and like it. If money is not a major concern, the Carbon Cub is hard to beat. I have had 185's and they are a great hauler, but fuel burn is substantial for your loads. The Sportsman question can be answered with a tour of their facility. Good luck with your choice.

Take at look at the video on the CC website of Jim Richmond flying a Carbon cub on floats and that will quite likely solve your dilemma. Comparing it to a Sportsman on floats will firm it up for you.
