    Default Cowl blanket

Anyone have a store-bought cowl blanket to recommend? I live in Wisconsin, and I'll be bringing my new CC home from Yakima over the Rockies in mid-to-late November. Looking for something that fits the CC well, keeps the heat in and is easy to get on with frozen fingers. (The plane has the Reiff preheat system installed.)

    Thanks.

I have a Kennon on my Sport Cub and it fits great. Nice folks to deal with.

If you are really cheap like me go to Harbor Freight and buy one of their moving blankets.
Works great and cost me $7.99 on sale.

I have a Bruce's Custom Cover. They have the templates for old and new cowls. Works fine. I also have their cockpit & window cover. Nice, too. Mike B

I spoke to the folks at Kennon and they said they don't have a template for the current shape of the CC cowl. (I didn't know there have been changes.) I may stop by on my way home from Yakima to have them fit a blanket for me, although I'm told their production line will be going full blast for a while yet. In the meantime, I'll use the blanket from my PA-18.

Thanks for the comments and advice.

The Carbon Cub cowling changed in 2012. Different shape in the front/openings area.

If you are trying to keep the retained heat in and maximize heat you are adding in the cold before flight, the well fitted and serious insulation of a Kennon is worth it. I lived in Southeast Alaska for twenty years and will not start my engine in temps below 40 degrees without preheating. A proper cover will dramatically reduce your preheat times and I found I could go for several hours with no need to preheat with my cover after a flight.

I'll bet the Kennon blanket works better than my Harbor Freight moving blanket but-----
I said "if your cheap like me".
Bet it looks better too ---
Why don't you post a picture and the price for us?

There are prices and photos on the website. It is expensive but how much is an early engine rebuild? The question was what are suggested options, you gave yours I gave mine.
