Default Storage pockets - looking for an opinion

    Storage Pockets

Found some nice storage pockets on line. Plastic on three sides, open on top, typical net material. Supposedly made in Italy. Look like good quality items. Overall length is about 11 inches. Held in place with four screws, user supplied.

Temporarily set them in place with tape. Plan would be to put one by each seat.

Can anyone think of any downside to installing these items? Is the location shown in the photos appropariate?

Here is one of several suppliers:

check the connected sites. There is a slightly larger model that may work on the aft side panels

what do you think of the locations shown in my pics?

EV, I ordered two of these this morning. Great looking product! Does anybody know if CC has the carbon fiber cup holders I saw somewhere and how much they cost?

The cup holder is integral with the right front kick panel. You would have to replace the entire panel.

The only concern that I have is the fuel lines behind then. Check your screws for clearance.

If the back is solid, 3M VHB tape would hold stronger than anything you could put in them, plus Mitch would sleep at night knowing you didn't screw thru the fuel system!

Spent the evening looking at installation options, making measurements, and have a few conclusions

    1. The carbon fiber side panels are really thin and light and adding a pocket into which weight will be added could distort those panels.

    2. The storage pockets don't set flat. The bottom has a bit of a contour. They can be screwed down tight and made to lay flat, but that will likely bend the interior panels unless there is a significant backing plate which means weight.

    3. The pockets would need to be installed before the plane is covered to make sure one does not get into the fuel lines or frame members, as you have noted.

    4. I am not sure how well velcro or double sided tape would work in this application. Too much tension with the contour of the storage pocket frame.

BUT here is what is interesting

The contour of the frame makes it dead on perfect fit on the bottom portion of the back of the pilot's seat. It looks like it was made for that location. Still a handy location for little items that could be reached by the pilot, but none of the issues noted above. Just pop off the seat cushion and screw it in place . . . . Need some 8-32 screws and nuts

I used pouches designed for sailboat cockpits. They have suction cup attachments. Mine work great. No screws and stay attached for months without resetting suction cups. Mike
