Default on a river gravel bar

A great day, landed on a local Western WA river gravel bar to test my new 850s. Pretty bumpy!! The rocks were bigger than they looked from in the air. Taxiing back and takeoff was pretty jaring.

On takeoff I used one notch flaps, lighten the tail wheel, and popped all flaps when we approached 30 mph and then flew down the bar in ground effect while cleaning up slowly and accelerating speed and climb. I just wanted to get off the rocks as soon as possible.

Itsn't cubdriving great! All part of living large! Thanks to Jim for developing the Sport Cub!......

Geo: If you are going to do much of that...you will want Bushwheels. They eat rocks! Thanks for posting, beautiful photos. R
