Not my booth, local hot rod shop about 4 miles from airport. It just got too cold here to try and paint in my hangar booth I had set up. Couldn't run the heat while I sprayed. And it really kicked my ass even with the silver. Wasn't going to risk it with the PPG.

That's two coats of cut in on the "hard edges" with 10-20 between coats. Booth was at 80*F. Then two full cover coats with same 10-20 between coats. Then a 45min bake and it will stay in booth until tomorrow afternoon. Shooting to spray wings next Saturday!

It covered over the PPG Etch Primer nicely as well. Once you allow it to cure overnight and then scuff prior to shooting.

Yellow looks really great. What type of PPG is that? Appreciate the info. Thanks.

Ditto on what type of PPG primer question. Any info on the finish paint product would be greatly appreciated. Looks great! BTW, looks like you didn't PPG prime the fuel tanks, boot cowl. How come?

The top coat is PPG DUHS and the primer is PPG DX1787. The boot cowl will get etch primer on everything less firewall DX1787 and the Titanium firewall are not compatible surfaces. The firewall will remain bare. Fuel tanks, as with all other aluminum parts in wing remain bare as well.

What I learned today. The labels on the exterior of the "totes" are time limited and will fall off.. This adds to the motto "Adventure Included". Either put some clear packing tape over the labels or use a sharpie and write on the totes...

Did you get The DUHS from CubCrafters?

    Thanks!

I ordered a gallon of each, the PPG DX1787 (etch filler) and DX1788 (Catalyst) and the DX330 (degreasing solvent) from my local PPG distributor. For future reference, PPG PPG Automotive Refinishing Sales' telephone # to locate your local distributor and/or technical questions on this primer: 800-647-6050

Not sure how others have organized and primed their bits and pieces. We made a 'parts-tree' with some waste lumber and screws from the crate. Barcoded labels were removed from the parts and safety wire-tied, which also serve as the means to hang the 'ornaments' for priming! I don't have a paint booth... we'll shoot the parts on a nice dry day, outside.

Out of curiosity, where did you get the Titanium? Did you get a machine shop to match all the holes off the stainless? Super cool.
