    Default Altimeter Replacement

The altimeter on my CC11 (MyPanel option) has failed it's first 24 month check - "very sluggish in operation and also baro subscale out of tolerance". I'm not hugely surprised as it has always misread the altitude when set to QNH.

Apparently it is an expensive unit (~$4k) intended for standby use in a turbo or jet and has been shaken to bits.

Obviously it's out of warranty and in any case seems to be unsuitable for the application or it would have lasted more than 200 hours. Any suggestions as to a sensible replacement?

I am on my third one and IT does not work either .
Barometric scale way off. I set mine with GPS every hour or so.

    Hi Joseph.

Are you using the CC standard one each or have you had the same experience with others? Knowing what to avoid would be helpful.

    Yes stock 2 1/2" Model.
    They warrantied it twice.
and it still is not right.
    I gave up.
The altimeter works if you set with GPS and not the barometric scale.

That's how I was setting mine but here we have a mandatory 24 month inspection which means if I stick with the same type I'll be buying a new one every two years. I'll do some more research.

    Thanks Bill

That's a much more sensible price - I'll try it out.

    Hi Seastar,
This is the same altimeter that comes with the plane that has failed numerous times.
I also know of other planes with this altimeter failing.

    Hi EV,
Have you had good luck with this altimeter?
