This is interesting as I almost always have to use full/almost full nose down trim. Most of my landings are off airport and I usually land with modest power targeting 1200-1400rpm rather than idle, partly to avoid shock cooling but it also seems to give more control over the landing.

I have never noticed any thumping (I have the gap seals) but I have noticed on several occasions that I am out of forward trim despite being well within the CofG limits.
