    Post Sensenich Propeller Notification

    Dear Sport Cub Owners,

Sensenich Propellers has just released the following document on their website: Notification No. CN-1-13. This document, which can be found on our website here, is directed at aircraft owners and operators using Continental O-200 engines and Sensenich C72AE propellers (i.e. Sport Cub owners with the Sensenich ground adjustable propeller). The issue deals with magneto failures due to propeller harmonics.

CubCrafters has been closely involved in this issue with Sensenich, Continental, and the affected owners and aircraft. If you have any questions feel free to post them here or contact Customer Support.

It applies to any O-200 with a Sensenich ground adjustable propeller. Standard Sport Cub, S2, or XP.

Am I covered under warranty since Cubcrafters did this modification 10 months ago and put on the new prop then?

Don't know yet what Sensenich will do regarding props in the field. They are testing a 76" blade now as a replacement for the 72" which uses the same hub and there might be a reasonable retrofit program at some point. The 76" blade will likely offer a bit more mass thereby mitigating the mag drive train issue, and I know they believe there will be a bit more performance on our airframe.

All owners of the effected prop should sit tight until Sensenich can finish their testing, we'll certainly forward any info we have as it develops.

Call Charlie at Sensenich. He told me they were probably going to do some kind of retrofit on the old ones. I sold my S2 so I haven't kept in touch with him.(probably been a couple of months now) He said to stay in touch and he would let me know on how testing was going.

I had my g/adj blades redone and I will be going to Sensenich this week. I will ask about what the longer term plans are while I am there.

I just spoke with Charlie at Sensenich. He said they are currently working on a redesign, but what will be done with the props already in the field will have to be negotiated between CC and Sensenich management.

Unfortunately I dont think I know any more now than I did before the call
