    Default Dynon D180 Settings refined.

We have spent time refining the Dynon D180 settings to improve the EFIS experience. I would like to share those results with all those whom may be interested.

Before uploading software changes, record hobbs time, tach time, fuel flow K-Factor, and note if extended range tanks are installed.

For those familiar with accessing and updating the D180 with a PC and Dynon software, you may contact Jeff.Glab@CubCrafters.com to get an up-to-date file that you can upload with all the following settings. The latest Dynon software can be obtained from dynonavionics.com. Special OEM functions option must be enabled to upload settings.

    WARNING

LOSS OF POWER DURING UPLOAD USING A COMPUTER MAY REQUIRE DYNON SERVICE TO RETURN UNIT TO OPERATION. CONSIDER USING CHARGER ON AIRCRAFT BATTERY AND LAPTOPS ARE PLUGGED IN.

The rest of this is directed towards those wanting to enter settings manually. A more detailed manual may be available from Jeff Glab at CubCrafters.com.

    Dynon buttons for reference:

To set the settings manually, with the D180 powered on and the main screen shown as in the above picture acknowledge all alarms then press button 5, then press MORE, then SETUP, then press GLOBAL. Follow the next table and verify / setup EMS global settings using "DOWN, UP, and SEL" buttons. Standard settings are shown with Metric settings in parenthesis. Metric settings are set like Standard when not shown.

I have another enhancement idea for the D-180. Flying a pusher (VariViggen) I need a fire alarm in the back. So I bught an UV indicator which sends out pulses for a buzzer when fire is detected in the engine compartment. This I want to have annunciated and buzzed through the D-180. How would you do that?

It's probably best to find out what signal the fire detector outputs (voltage, current, pulsed or steady) and contact Dynon directly to see which input would best service that signal.
