To All Owners:

Kannad has released a Service Bulletin relating to the proper securing of Emergency Locator Transmitters (ELT) during installation and reinstallation which can be found on the Owner Support page of the website here. This applies to all aircraft with Kannad ELT's installed, and also provides good advice for all ELT's retained by hook-loop straps (Velcro).

The FAA has recently made changes to the applicability of certain ELT Technical Standard Orders (TSO) after a certain date. This recent change comes in the wake of the 2010 death of Senator Ted Stevens and several other people in which the ELT detached from the antenna when their aircraft crashed and was unable to transmit the distress signal.

Please note that all currently installed ELT's are not affected by the TSO changes, which is purely a manufacturer issue. Kannad's Service Bulletin is a proactive approach to increasing the security of currently installed ELT's.

If you have any questions, feel free to post them here or contact Customer Support at CubCrafters.
