    Lloyd,
A couple of things, the reason there are seven straps is that there are
seven nose ribs under each skin, one for each skin. On your second wing use
the pushing the skin with your palm method, it really works you can move
the metal around a little enough to make it sit better.
regarding the oil canning on the bottom of the skin, Mitch is correct
however you might have to drill #1 and 2 rivet out once the straps are in
place to allow the skin to move sideways and re-drill all the bottom holes
    say
3/8"higher, also remember when covered with fabric these small imperfections
will not show, as long as the structural integrity is not compromised. Have
fun it is not complicated just a giant erector set.

You asked about the 1" block that sets some twist into the wing, this should
be in place during the LE skin fixing, however the real twist (wash out) is
set and can be adjusted with the wing on the plane using the rear strut
the block just partially allows for the eventual twist.

Yes I have finished, there is a photo on the EX builders page. I have now
flown 35 hours and have the full C of A and it really is a joy to fly.

Bruce, thanks so much for taking the time to educate me on your technique
for mounting LE skins. I have a clearer picture now, and hopefully second
wing will go smoother...if I can ever fix the problems I've created with the
first. I ended up with some bulging on either side of a few bottom rivets.
That made for a nice tin can sound when pressed as the bulge hopped from one
side of the rivet. I called Mitch and he said to drill out the bottom
rivets only and leave the #1 and 2 rivets in place. I did that and
yesterday, per your previous suggestions, I re-tightened the skins with
straps over blocking and let it sit overnight until I heard from you. Glad
I did. I only had four straps in place, and if I understand what you did,
you placed seven straps, two on either side of each nose rib. I was
hesitant to use two straps between the ribs as I thought I'd put too much
pressure on the skin the first time and that was what created the bulge when
the straps were remove, even though it looked good before I riveted it.

Today I'll place more straps and go for it.

    Thanks again,

    Lloyd

Have you finished your plane yet?

Not sure where I was in line, but I am thinking of using the alternate method with clamps on the skin, so go ahead and skip me.

    Thanks
