Question Use of 91UL in CC340?

Is the CC340 approved for 91/96 octane unleaded fuel? Where I live 100LL has become extremely expensive, but 91UL has become more widely spread, and is somewhat cheaper.

I got into a tight fuel situation earlier this summer and put 5 gallons of high octane car gas in my EX. I couldn't see any difference in performance or EGT and CHT temps.

As an experimental you can burn whatever you like. But your question about long-term consequences is valid.

So a question for those in the know; would it be acceptable to burn 91 octane fuel that does not have ethanol in it in the CC-340 engine?

CubCrafters does not recommend using auto fuel in the CC340 engine. The higher compression in the CC340 and the unknown quality of auto fuel leaves some doubt as to how well it will work long term. You may want to go to the STC providers web page and read the specification.

    http://www.autofuelstc.com/stc_specs.phtml

The auto fuel requires that the fuel be manufactured to a certain ASTM spec. That may be difficult to get or you may not be able to verify the fuels compliance to the ASTM spec., and they are only talking about engines that were approved to run 80/87 aviation fuel.

    Thanks

Hi Mitch, So what is the compression ratio in the CC340? Also, for some reason I can no longer see this Forum in Safari. Are others having that problem?

The compression ratio for the CC340 is 9.0 to 1

    Thanks

Working for me in Safari now too but for about three days I got an error trying to open a thread.

Thanks Mitch. That's what I thought it was but wanted to confirm.
