Default Another "How I Spent My Labor Day" ...

You wouldn't think it by looking at the sectional chart, but eastern Washington offers some fascinating scenery. Read up on the Channeled Scablands and the floods caused when the ice dams of ancient Lake Missoula repeatedly broke about 20,000 years ago.

I spent Labor Day weekend flying low and slow over the scablands and Palouse country, mostly in the early morning when the air was calm and low sun angles offered interesting views. https://picasaweb.google.com/1076784...CIPknvaf1YWlMA

How low did I fly? Low enough that I felt the need to divert several miles out of my way to stay upwind of the stockyards north of Pasco.

This video records a short part of the trip, from Tekoa WA (73S) up to Coeur d'Alene Lake. I compared the video to the Tekoa runway markings on Google Earth, and calculated the takeoff run at 175 feet, without even trying hard. Love that Sport Cub!
