Has anyone done this package yet? Jon
We have done three or four here and there have been several customers do similar packages out in the field. I know Ralph Rogers in MT had one for a while.
Its a good upgrade for the Sport Cub. Really "wakes up" the O-200.
I have flown several with that mod package, there is a definite improvement.

I talked to Dons dream machines in Georgia few weeks ago.To my understanding he is the Small Continental Expert in the south. You should give him a call very nice to talk to.I know he has worked out a deal with the local Cubcrafter guys to do there mods.He said if you really want to see a big differance he recomends putting the C90 camshaft in it when you do the clyinders.Extra $3500 but said it will really make it come alive at the lower RPM(C90 95hp@2450). Plan on doing mine if my cylinders give me any problems.
Good Luck

Couple questions for anyone that has done this package....
1. Does the cylinder work fix the O-200 issues? With higher compression pistons has this and other cylinder work helped?
2. Does it include trading in current prop for the Sensenich ground adjustable?
3. About how long does to take?
4. Any issues converting to E-LSA? Same factory support?
I already have cowl flaps.
Jon
Hi Jon, a few answers for you...
1. Yes, this fixes the valve guide alignment issue that comes from TCM.
2. The $10,000 price includes a new Sensenich ground adjustable prop outright.
3. About two weeks.
4. Same support, and there are several benefits with the conversion to E-LSA.
I believe we give a $750 credit on the package if you already have the cowl flaps.

When they did my conversion a little over a year ago, Stan told me they had way more time in it than they had budgeted. They honored the quoted price, but I am guessing it is not a profitable mod for them at the original price. It does make a BIG difference in performance.
I have run several props on my SportCub XP and several pitch cartridges for the Sensenich grnd adj.
The engine upgrade is a worthwhile one with all of the benefits that Ralph was talking about. However, if you don't match the prop to your new engine power you will not be getting full benefit of the engine mod. Most of my prop selections have been various pitch choices with the Sensenich grnd adj but I have flown a couple of experimental props from Catto and Sensenich.
On wheels, my choice is the 54" pitch on the Sensenich grnd adj. On floats, 50" or 52" pitch seems to work well. I am currently on floats and running a 52" pitch cartridge. Performance off the water is good.
Catto and Sensenich are working on some other choices I am sure.

Don Swords, owner of Don's Dream Machines in Griffin, GA has sold his hangar and engine facility and has officially "retired". That being said, he is still semi-operating out of his garage, and will probably be working on a small-block Continental motor when he leaves this earth. If anyone would like to get in touch with Don, I have his contact information.
